VSB staff to present final recommendations to the Board of Trustees meeting postponed from Wednesday June 4 at 7pm CHANGED TO Wednesday, June 11, 2008, 7:00 pm, Board Room, Vancouver School Board, 1580 West Broadway
From the VSB website: "The postponement is due to the fact that discussions with principal parties are still under way relating to matters of finance and other developments pertinent to the proposals in question. Further time is required to bring these discussions to a conclusion."
The public can attend this meeting but cannot speak or ask questions. Our opportunity to respond is SIX days later, see #2 for details.A three member QEA team went to meet with Colin
Hansen, also on the 29th. Gordon Campbell sent a staffer
along as well, which we did not request, but we think
is a good sign. Although the meeting was scheduled
for 30 minutes, they both spent an hour discussing
our concerns. Colin Hansen agreed to forward information
we presented to him directly to the Minister of Education,
Shirley Bond. Colin Hansen is also interested in the
delay on seismic upgrades this plan will cause.

Our opportunity to respond is SIX days later, see #2 for details.
2. The Committee of the Whole (Delegation) meetings scheduled for June 10 and June 11 have been cancelled. From the VSB website, "We regret any inconvenience this postponement and these cancellations may cause, but it is felt to be in the best interests of all with a stake in the proposals to provide this additional time."
3. One of our parents, Julee Kaye, has created two feedback forms in response to the extremely biased feedback form the VSB presented during the public consultation process. Julee’s questionnaires give everyone a chance to comment on the issues we are facing in our discussions with the School Board. Please fill out one or both of the surveys SHORT SURVEY, or LONG SURVEY, send completed forms to juleee@shaw.ca <mailto:juleee@shaw.ca>
Good News May 6, 2008 - A Vancouver Annex school fighting to stay open has been given until 2010 to stay open and improve enrolment. see CBC news article "East Vancouver parents' group wins fight to keep school open" (Garibaldi Annex)
